For many years, a group of Belgian journalists has been working to document photographic stories about the genocide and display them in a special exhibition in Belgium.
The Belgian journalist Johanna De Tsir spoke about this topic in a special statement to Sama. She said, “For years, I have been working on preparing graphic stories about the Yazidi genocide, and this year we will open a special exhibition of several influential graphic stories about the genocide. The exhibition consists of 52 pictures.”
Johanna added, “Every year we come to Iraq and Kurdistan, visit camps for displaced people, and search for stories of survivors and important topics about the families of the kidnapped. We also focus on successful stories from people who played a major role in overcoming this difficult ordeal that the Yazidi community went through.”
In conclusion, Johanna said, “The exhibition will run from 7/1/2024 until 9/12/2024 in the city of Brussels. We will also open it in other cities. This is not the first exhibition about genocide that we have opened, and we want to bring it back to the minds of many people after ten years. It is important to remember what happened to this religious minority in Iraq.”
