The initiative tackles the growing drug crisis with a comprehensive approach focused on prevention, law enforcement, treatment, and social reintegration.
Under the direct guidance of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the Barzani Charity Foundation launched a wide-reaching national campaign on Thursday to tackle the growing threat of drug abuse across the region.
“Together Towards a Strong and Healthy Society”
The campaign, unveiled at 10:00 a.m. under the title “Together Towards a Strong and Healthy Society,” brings together multiple government bodies and ministries in a unified approach to prevent drug use, enhance rehabilitation programs, and raise public awareness—especially among the youth.
Unified Front of Top Officials
Several high-ranking officials took part in the opening ceremony, including Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed, Education Minister Alan Hama Saeed, and Health Minister Dr. Saman Barzinji. Their presence reflects the government’s recognition of narcotics as both a serious health issue and a threat to social stability.
Comprehensive Strategy
The campaign adopts a four-pillar strategy: prevention, enforcement, treatment, and reintegration. It includes public forums where experts will discuss the causes of addiction, methods to curb its spread, and how to reintegrate recovering individuals into society.
Barzani’s Commitment to Social Well-Being
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s close oversight of the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to building a healthier and safer community. The Barzani Charity Foundation, known for its humanitarian work, now leads this critical effort to counteract drug-related challenges in the Kurdistan Region.
This initiative is not just a response to a health crisis—it’s a call to action aimed at protecting future generations and ensuring the Kurdistan Region continues to stand as a model of stability and progress amid regional unrest.
