Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani called on the Iraqi federal government to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by providing fair compensation to the families of victims of the Anfal campaigns and chemical attacks, as the 38th anniversary of the Anfal tragedy in Badinan is commemorated.
In a statement honoring the victims of the genocide committed by the former Iraqi regime against the people of the Badinan region, Barzani said the campaigns claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people and destroyed hundreds of villages, leaving tens of thousands displaced and forcibly uprooted.
The Prime Minister stressed that the Kurdistan Region will remain a steadfast supporter of the families of martyrs and Anfal victims, pledging to mobilize all available resources to provide them with the best possible services and care in recognition of their immense sacrifices.
