Statement by the Lalish Cultural and Social Center

Statement

Since the establishment of the Iraqi state, especially in the 1960s, many parties have tried to cut off the Yazidis, who are an indigenous part of the Kurdish nation, from their historical roots for hidden political purposes.

The ancient Yazidi religion is one of the first religions that the Kurdish nation believed in. Despite the tragedies of time and the oppression that has been done to us since the beginning of history until today, we have been able to preserve our spiritual culture. All the sacred texts of our religion, lies and rituals are recited in Kurdish in the same way as the ancient religions of Kurdistan are celebrated.

Our religious and worldly and all historical sources emphasize that Yazidism is the first spring Kurdishness drank water out of it and both two souls are in the same body, and in addition to our share with our brothers in other religions of Kurdistan in history, geography and culture and language. The main temple of our religion, the holy temple of Lalish, is located in the heart of Kurdistan.

Therefore, we as the cultural and social center of Lalish see the recognition of the genocide of the Yazidis by the International Criminal Court to implement justice and punish the perpetrators, compensate the victims, and rebuild the wounded Yazidi areas, especially Sinjar With the normalization of its situation away from political competition Armed phenomena must come first in our work. Deepening our wounds instead of healing them.

We also call on all Yazidi parties in their different intellectual and political directions to strengthen their unity on any issue related to our society and strengthen brotherly relations with all communities in Kurdistan and Iraq for our benefit.

Finally, we call on the federal and Kurdistan Regional Governments to guarantee all the rights of the Yazidi community and to participate them in all political and state administration, in accordance with the principles of social justice that defend the equality of all communities in rights and duties without discrimination.
