Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Muslims across the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar.

In a statement released by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Prime Minister Barzani expressed his hope that the occasion would be marked by peace, comfort, and unity for all.

“We celebrate this holiday with concern due to the challenging financial situation caused by the federal government’s collective punishment of the KRG. However, we assure you that the KRG will make every effort to overcome this situation,” the statement reads.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, coincides with the conclusion of Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, a religious duty for Muslims who are physically and financially able to perform it at least once in their lifetime.

The holiday is one of the two major Islamic festivals, alongside Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
