On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Kurdistan Women Union (KWU), President Barzani extended heartfelt congratulations to the organization and all women in Kurdistan. He highlighted KWU’s significance, remarking on its roots in the Great September Revolution and its role as a successful model of women’s engagement in political and social spheres in Kurdistan.
President Barzani’s message reads:

To the respected Secretary and Members of the Secretariat Bureau of the Kurdistan Women Union (KWU),
On the 72nd anniversary of KWU’s establishment, I extend my warmest congratulations to you, all KWU members, and all women in Kurdistan. The KWU stands as a significant achievement of the Great September Revolution and a successful example of women’s participation in Kurdistan’s political and social life.
KWU has played an essential role in our revolutionary and liberation movements, effectively educating women, defending their rights, and ensuring their active participation. It is expected that KWU will continue to instill the spirit of patriotism among its members and promote coexistence, civilization, equality, and the elimination of domestic and social violence in the future stages of our people’s lives.”
President Barzani emphasized that KWU has been a pivotal force in the Kurdish struggle, advocating for women’s rights and education, and playing a crucial part in the region’s liberation efforts. He acknowledged the union’s efforts in raising awareness, educating women, and defending their rights. Furthermore, he expressed his expectation for KWU to continue fostering patriotism, coexistence, civilization, and equality, while working to eliminate domestic and social violence in future stages of Kurdish life.
