“I extend my warmest congratulations to the Muslims of Kurdistan, Iraq, and the world on the holy occasion of Eid al-Adha. I congratulate the proud families of the martyrs, the heroic Peshmergas, and the beloved citizens of Kurdistan,” President Barzani said in a statement.

On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, President Masoud Barzani extended warm congratulations to Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world, while also addressing the ongoing salary crisis affecting the Kurdistan Region.

“I extend my warmest congratulations to the Muslims of Kurdistan, Iraq, and the world on the holy occasion of Eid al-Adha. I congratulate the proud families of the martyrs, the heroic Peshmergas, and the beloved citizens of Kurdistan,” President Barzani said in a statement issued by his headquarters.

Barzani used the opportunity to condemn the continued suspension of salaries by Iraqi federal authorities, calling the move a form of collective punishment against the Kurdish people.

“We approach this holy holiday while the salaries of the people of the Kurdistan Region have been suspended by the authorities in Baghdad,” the statement said. “The salary suspension and the policy of mass starvation inflicted upon the Kurdish people are no different from the Anfal, chemical attacks, and genocide committed by the previous regime.”

Despite the challenges, Barzani praised the resilience and determination of the Kurdish people in the face of hardship. “The will of the Kurdish people is stronger than any oppression, crime, or Anfal,” he said. “Those who oppose the people and the Kurdistan Region should reflect on history. The Kurdish people have resisted all pressure and violence, defeating their opponents, while the oppressors have been left in regret.”

The statement concluded with a message of hope and unity, emphasizing Barzani’s prayers for peace, prosperity, and stability.

“On this holy occasion, while expressing gratitude for the resistance and courage, President Barzani prays for goodness and prosperity for Kurdistan and Iraq, as well as peace and stability for our region and the entire world,” the statement said.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar, commemorating the Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to God.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, coincides with the conclusion of Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, a religious duty for Muslims who are physically and financially able to perform it at least once in their lifetime.

The holiday is one of the two major Islamic festivals, alongside Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
