His Highness Prince Hazim Tahsin Said (Prince of the Ezidis in Iraq and the world, and Head of the Ezidi Supreme Spiritual Council) received His Excellency Mr. Maksim Rubin (Consul General of the Russian Federation in Erbil) at the Lalish Temple.
After welcoming the Consul and his accompanying delegation, the Prince discussed the general situation of the Ezidis in Iraq, with a detailed focus on the situation in Sinjar. He emphasized the need to ensure security and stability in the region and stressed the importance of establishing legitimate local governance in Sinjar to safeguard Ezidi rights and facilitate the return of displaced people to their homes.
The Prince also highlighted the need for compensation for victims and those affected by the genocide, as well as the importance of ongoing efforts to support rescued Ezidi women and children.
For his part, the Russian Consul reaffirmed his country’s continued support for the Ezidis, noting Russia’s historical support dating back to the Soviet era. He also emphasized the protection of Ezidi rights in Russia, including their freedom to practice their religious and cultural traditions, and mentioned the political representation of Ezidis in Russia.
The Consul stated that the Ezidis in Russia are an integral part of society and enjoy full rights and freedoms.
The Prince concluded by expressing appreciation for Russia’s support of the Ezidi cause and called for further efforts to defend the rights of the Ezidi people.
The Consul and his delegation also toured the Lalish Temple to learn about its significance and observe key rituals and traditions practiced there.
At the end of the visit, His Highness presented the Consul with a symbolic gift — a model of the Lalish Temple.
