KRG’s Ninth Cabinet prioritizes road construction, renovation

During its tenure, the cabinet has implemented 1,967 road projects at a cost of 1 trillion 863 billion dinars. These projects include strategic endeavors like the 150-meter road in Erbil, the 100-meter road in Sulaimani, and Barzan Street in Duhok.

The ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has placed significant emphasis on road construction and renovation, particularly focusing on local streets in cities and towns to improve citizens’ lives.
During its tenure, the cabinet has implemented 1,967 road projects at a cost of 1 trillion 863 billion dinars. These projects include strategic endeavors like the 150-meter road in Erbil, the 100-meter road in Sulaimani, and Barzan Street in Duhok.
To date, 926 of these projects have been fully completed, while 1,041 remain under construction. Additionally, the ninth cabinet has allocated funds to finish 44 medium and strategic projects from previous cabinets that were left incomplete, with 13 of those already finished.
In total, the ninth cabinet has implemented 585 road projects, including 75 strategic projects, with 291 more currently in progress.
These 585 completed projects have resulted in the construction of 1,363 kilometers of new roads, using more than 11 million square meters of asphalt, at a cost exceeding 930 billion dinars.
Notably, the majority of these projects have been carried out by local labor.
The KRG anticipates that these extensive road construction and renovation efforts will greatly benefit citizens by improving convenience and enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of cities within the region.
