Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday issued a message celebrating the successful conduct of the sixth session of the Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections, emphasizing the event as a significant milestone in the region’s democratic journey.
In his statement, Prime Minister Barzani declared, “The success of the sixth session of the Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections was a success for the Kurdistan Region in another test of democracy.” He extended his congratulations to all citizens across the diverse communities of the region, highlighting the crucial role of active participation, particularly by the families of martyrs who have sacrificed for the region’s future.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) for their role in overseeing the electoral process, acknowledging their efforts despite concerns over the lower-than-expected voter turnout attributed to technical difficulties. He stressed the importance of addressing these issues in future elections to ensure that every citizen’s right to vote is protected.
Barzani also extended his appreciation to the internal security forces for maintaining a peaceful environment during the elections and thanked international observers for their oversight, which contributed to the integrity of the electoral process.
In his concluding remarks, Prime Minister Barzani recognized the cooperation of all political parties involved in the elections, stating, “With the support of our loyal citizens, I hope that the tenth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government will be dedicated to peace, prosperity, unity, and further development of the Kurdistan Region as soon as possible.”
