Syrian Foreign Minister Invites KRG Prime Minister to Visit Damascus

On Thursday, January 23, 2025, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Al-Shibani as part of his series of meetings at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

During the cordial meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria, ways to strengthen bilateral relations, and the current regional situation.

The Syrian Foreign Minister provided an update on the new situation in Syria and the efforts of the new administration to establish security, stability, and public services for citizens.

Minister Al-Shibani emphasized that the Kurds are “our brothers and sisters” and represent a fundamental and integral component of Syria, assuring that their rights will be safeguarded and protected.

He extended an invitation to the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region to visit Damascus, expressing hope to welcome him to Syria in the near future.

For his part, Prime Minister Barzani stressed that ensuring peace and stability in Syria is a top priority for the Kurdistan Region. He expressed readiness to provide all necessary support and assistance to their “brothers and sisters” in Syria.

Both sides agreed on the importance of protecting the rights of all components in Syria, including the Kurdish people.

In another aspect of the discussions, the meeting acknowledged Prime Minister Barzani’s efforts to bring Kurdish parties closer together, contributing to security and stability in Syria.
