Emir Hazim Tahssinn Beg of the Yazidis Engages with European Yazidi Communities on Official Visit

Mir Hazim Tahssin Beg, the Emir of the Yazidis in Kurdistan, Iraq, and worldwide, is currently on an official visit to Europe, where he has engaged with Yazidi communities in Germany and England.

Khairi Sinjar, Secretary of the Emir of the Yazidis, informed Sama that Emir Hazim Tahsin Beg’s visit to Britain and Germany aimed to better understand the conditions and challenges faced by Yazidis living abroad. This tour underscores the Emir’s commitment to maintaining strong connections with the Yazidi diaspora and addressing their concerns.

During his stay in Germany, the Emir met with Yazidi communities across various cities. These meetings focused on discussing the welfare of Yazidis in the diaspora and exploring ways to support and defend the rights of Yazidis in Sinjar and beyond. The Emir emphasized the ongoing efforts to serve and protect the interests of the Yazidi people, particularly in the face of the numerous challenges they have faced over recent years.

The Yazidi community, especially in the Sinjar region, has endured significant hardship, including the devastating attacks by ISIS in 2014, which led to the displacement of thousands and the destruction of their homeland. Many Yazidis sought refuge in Europe, where they continue to rebuild their lives while preserving their cultural heritage and advocating for justice and recognition of their suffering.

In Britain, Emir Hazim Tahssin Beg engaged with Yazidi representatives and community leaders to discuss the situation of Yazidis in the UK and explore potential initiatives to enhance their well-being and integration into their new communities. These discussions also aimed to strengthen the solidarity between Yazidis in Europe and those in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The Emir’s visit highlights the importance of the Yazidi leadership in maintaining a global network of support for their people. It also reflects the ongoing efforts to address the long-term needs of the Yazidi community, including issues related to resettlement, cultural preservation, and international advocacy.

Emir Hazim Tahssin Beg is expected to return to the Kurdistan Region in the coming days, bringing back insights and plans to further support Yazidis both at home and abroad. This visit reinforces the leadership’s dedication to the well-being of the Yazidi people, wherever they may reside.
