Prime Minister Provides Financial Aid to Yazidi Survivors

By the decision of Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, financial assistance will be distributed to over 3,500 Yazidi survivors rescued from ISIS.

On Sunday, August 4, 2024, Saeed Jirdo, President of the Lalish Cultural and Social Center, announced in a press conference at the Sharia Complex that the financial support project for survivors of ISIS, initiated by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on July 2, 2024, has now entered the implementation phase. 3,575 survivors, including girls, women, men, and children, will benefit from this aid.

Jirdo clarified that the financial grant will start in August of this year and includes survivors living abroad. A special link will be shared on the Lalish  Center’s media platforms for form submissions. The financial aid will be distributed in the Sharia, Khanke, Sheikhan, and Derebun areas over four days, beginning today at the Sharia Complex.

Regarding survivors in Sinjar, Jirdo stated that they can visit a designated committee to receive their grants.
The President of the Lalish Foundation expressed gratitude to the Kurdistan Regional Government, particularly Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, for this initiative aimed at healing the wounds of ISIS survivors and improving their living conditions.

Jirdo also revealed that, following the Prime Minister’s recommendations, the Regional Minister of Education has issued a decision allowing students who were captured during the Yazidi genocide on August 3, 2014, to continue their education.

Additionally, Herman Mirza Beg, the Prime Minister’s advisor for Yazidi affairs, announced at the press conference that this financial grant is an important project for survivors to alleviate their suffering, and the Regional Government will continue to support and assist the Yazidi community.
The distribution of financial aid will continue until August 7, ensuring all survivors receive assistance.
