On Saturday, December 28, 2024, Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader al-Dakhil, accompanied by an official delegation, visited His Eminence Baba Sheikh Ali Sheikh Elias at his residence in Sheikhka Complex. During the visit, al-Dakhil extended his congratulations to His Eminence and all Yazidis on the occasion of the Ezidi fasting holiday.
During the visit, al-Dakhil emphasized the strength of national unity in Nineveh, stressing that the province would not allow terrorism and extremism to tear apart its social fabric. He also acknowledged the injustice suffered by the people of Nineveh, particularly the Yazidis, and stressed the need for serious efforts to address these wrongs on both humanitarian and legal levels.
In the meeting, His Eminence Baba Sheikh discussed several key demands with the governor, including providing more services and projects for the Shingal region, expanding housing complexes, distributing land parcels to the locals, constructing and maintaining the Shingal-Tal Afar road, and improving security in Shingaal to ensure the stability of the region and protect its inhabitants from potential threats.
The governor announced a series of developmental projects to support the Yazidi community and develop the Shingal area, including laying the foundation stone for the Shingal Hospital project, which will serve as a new beginning for life in the district, directing work to rehabilitate the Tal Afar-Shingal road, and establishing a 50-bed hospital in the town of Sinuni.
Regarding the compensation file, al-Dakhil confirmed that new compensation batches for the affected people would be issued soon. He noted that the local government in Nineveh continues to work towards providing the best services for all the components of the province, with special attention to the Yazidi community, which has suffered greatly from the horrors of terrorism.
