On Tuesday, under the oversight of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, two major energy agreements were signed between the U.S. oil companies HKN Energy and WesternZagros and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Natural Resources.
These deals, worth tens of billions of dollars, are anticipated to have a profound impact on the growth of the Kurdistan Region’s oil and energy sectors, while also contributing to the broader development of its economic infrastructure.
Steve Lutes, Vice President and Deputy Head for the Middle East, Central Asia, and Turkey at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, extended his congratulations to HKN Energy on its partnership with WesternZagros. He remarked, “We are pleased to welcome Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and his delegation to the United States.”
Lutes also highlighted that Prime Minister Barzani has played a key role in deepening and expanding the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the United States.
