Sinjar honey has a good reputation and delicious taste in the region. Due to its high quality, there is a high demand for it, and it is being exported abroad.
Salim Qasim Garmiz, one of the beekeepers in Sinjar from the village of Garmiz in the Snuny sub-district, started beekeeping in 2000. He tells Sema: His project is beekeeping and honey production in the region. Sinjar honey has a distinctive taste and there is a higher demand for it due to the essential nutritional components available for the bees and honey there.

He added: The lack of rain this year affected the decrease in bee production, as we produced about two and a half tons. Also, the increase in production varies from region to region and from year to year.
The beekeeper revealed: I sell a good amount of honey annually, and there is a high demand for the product in the region, Kurdistan Region, and Iraq. It is also sent abroad, especially to Germany.
The aforementioned beekeeper clarified during his speech that in the coming years, he will expand his project for honey production.
Beekeeping is done in the mountainous areas of Sinjar, and beekeepers are trying to increase their production and meet local needs.
