The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has released its latest report on the special vote. According to the report, 215,960 voters were registered, and 208,521 people, or 97 percent, participated in the process.
There were 165 polling centers and 749 polling stations for special voting, the commission said.
“The special voting process ended, the ballot boxes were closed without any problems, and no significant security violations were recorded,” IHEC stated.
The commission provided a breakdown of male and female voters in the special vote, noting that 203,773 voters were male and 4,748 were female.
There were 189,857 literate voters and 18,664 illiterate voters.
The voting process was conducted under the supervision of 1,926 observers at polling stations, and 3,750 representatives of political parties were present.
Regarding fingerprint scanning, the commission stated that 205,620 voters were successfully registered, and “the number of cases where fingerprints could not be read reached 2,901.”
Special voting for the sixth session of the Kurdistan Region parliament began at 7:00 AM on Friday and continued until 6:00 PM. Voting proceeded normally in all provinces except Halabja, where most political parties rejected the election results.
