PM Masrour Barzani Praises Kurdistan Women Union’s Role in Revolution

On December 11th, 2024, Kurdistan marked the 72nd anniversary of the Kurdistan Women Union’s establishment. The union, which operates as an influential organization within the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), has played a key role in supporting the Peshmerga, contributing to the Kurdish revolution, and advocating for women’s rights and responsibilities.

In a message of congratulations, KDP Vice President and Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, extended his warm wishes to the union’s Secretary, its Secretariat Bureau members, and all Kurdish women. “I congratulate the Kurdistan Women Union’s Secretary, the Secretariat Bureau members, and all Kurdish women on the 72nd anniversary of the union’s founding. I wish them continued success and progress,” he stated.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the union’s pivotal role in the history of the Kurdish people’s revolution and liberation. “The Kurdistan Women Union has a rich history, marked by its significant and impactful participation in the Kurdish people’s liberation struggle,” he said.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Barzani acknowledged the union’s contribution to nurturing many talented female leaders, encouraging them to persist in their efforts to protect women’s rights and defend the achievements of the Kurdish people. “May they continue to fulfill their duty to safeguard women’s rights and the rights of the Kurdish people, ensuring ongoing success,” he added.
