On Monday, February 3, 2025, Yazidi refugees from Afrin visited the Memorial of Immortals in Barzan village, marking an event organized by the Lalish Center in Duhok in cooperation with the Barzani Charity Foundation. The visit aimed to show solidarity and reaffirm their commitment to the legacy of the immortal Barzani and the enduring Kak Idris. The refugees were warmly received by Khalat Barzani, the representative of President Barzani.
During the visit, the delegation expressed their condolences for the loss of the immortal Barzani while renewing their pledges to his path by laying wreaths. Said Jardo, head of the Supreme Committee of the Lalish Center, gave a speech emphasizing that the visit symbolized loyalty and devotion to the sacred journey of the immortal Barzani. He stated that the activity, organized in cooperation with the Barzani Charity Foundation, was specifically for Yazidi refugees from Afrin who are currently residing in the Kurdistan Region, especially those in the Duhok camps.
Jardo further explained, “Today, we have come to honor the memory of these great leaders to reaffirm our commitment to their long-standing struggle and the principles they championed, such as faith in God, patriotism, mutual respect, and coexistence in Kurdish society.”
The Yazidi refugees from Afrin, in turn, expressed their deep appreciation to President Barzani for providing them with shelter and basic necessities in the Kurdistan Region. They proudly renewed their commitment to the immortal Barzani’s path and noted that it is both a privilege and honor to have a leader who dedicated his life to securing the rights and well-being of the Kurdish people.
