The Lalish Center, Sennony Branch, launched a tree planting campaign in mid-February 2025 to increase green spaces in Sennony. This initiative aims to enhance the beauty of villages and complexes, clean the environment, and face climatic challenges in the northern region (Sennony).
Suleiman Fano, the Head of the Lalish Cultural and Social Center – Sennony Branch, stated: “We started the tree planting campaign as a first step to address the climatic challenges currently facing the Sinjar area. We launched the campaign in (Dokri and Khansur) in coordination with the Kurdish School Administration in the region and the Northern Subdistrict Municipality.”
He added, “This campaign will continue within the boundaries of our center, from the Bara area to Hardan. We allocated a budget for this campaign from our center’s operational funds and with support from the Higher Authority of the Lalish Cultural and Social Center. Around 1,000 trees will be planted, and the campaign will continue until the end of March 2025.”
The Lalish Sennony Center and its offices have been working for years with Yazidi families, offering all available resources and promoting cultural activity in the region. Since the ISIS genocide against the Yazidis, the Sennony Center and its offices have dedicated their efforts to supporting all segments of society, especially displaced students and survivors of ISIS’s grip.
