Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Abdulrahman Sidiq, head of Kurdistan’s Environment Board, to commend his contributions as he concludes his tenure.

During the meeting, Barzani expressed his appreciation for Sidiq’s efforts in protecting the Kurdistan Region’s environment, highlighting his dedication to advancing environmental policies and sustainability initiatives.

The Prime Minister acknowledged Sidiq’s hard work in tackling environmental challenges and implementing measures to preserve natural resources.

In response, Sidiq thanked Barzani for his continuous support and commitment to environmental protection, emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts to address climate change and pollution in the Kurdistan Region, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has prioritized environmental protection in recent years, launching initiatives to combat deforestation, manage water resources, and promote renewable energy.

However, challenges such as air pollution, illegal waste dumping, and climate change continue to pose significant threats.

Sidiq’s departure marks the end of a tenure focused on strengthening environmental policies, and his successor is expected to build on these efforts to ensure a sustainable future for the Kurdistan Region.
