Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday extended warm wishes to the Yezidi community on the occasion of Çarşema Sor, the Yezidi New Year.
In his congratulatory message, Prime Minister Barzani said, “I congratulate all Yezidi brothers and sisters in Kurdistan and around the world on the Yezidi New Year. I wish you a joyful holiday.”
He reaffirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ongoing support for the Yezidi community, particularly in Sinjar, which has faced immense challenges in recent years.
“As always, we support the rights and demands of our Yezidi brothers and sisters and will continue our efforts to normalize the situation in Sinjar, rebuild the region, and assist the refugees in returning to their homes with pride,” Barzani stated.
The Prime Minister concluded his message with a wish for lasting peace and good health for the community.
Çarşema Sor, or “Red Wednesday,” marks the start of the Yezidi calendar year and is one of the most important religious celebrations for the Yezidi people.
