Chancellor Scholz’s government is negotiating an immigration agreement with Uzbekistan to expel dangerous Afghans whose asylum applications have been rejected in Germany, in order to prevent any direct dealings with the Taliban, Der Spiegel reported.
The German government is in talks with Uzbekistan on an immigration agreement that would give Germany an opportunity to expel these Afghans because Berlin is not obliged to make any agreement with the Taliban, Der Spiegel reported on June 16.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has vowed to take a tougher stance on refugees, especially criminal Afghans and Syrians, following the right-wing victory in the European Parliament elections.
A delegation from the German Interior Ministry visited Tashkent in the last week of May without giving any further details, except that the Uzbek side had agreed to receive a certain number of Afghan refugees whose asylum applications had been rejected in Germany, Der Spiegel reported. They will then be transferred to Afghanistan via an airline that flies to Afghanistan.
Der Spiegel said the Uzbek government could be helped to return the Afghan refugees, and it called for a legal immigration agreement with Germany before reaching an agreement on the repatriation of Afghan refugees. It also called for skilled workers from Uzbekistan to be allowed to work in Germany.
In this context, Der Spiegel reports that the German government’s special representative for migration agreements will travel to Uzbekistan next week to discuss the mechanism for the repatriation of Afghan refugees.
