On this day, 25/9/2017, the people of Kurdistan, under the leadership of President Masoud Barzani, made a historic decision regarding their fate and relationship with the state of Iraq. The holding of the referendum was a significant achievement and serves as a historical document for any future declaration of an independent Kurdistan, bringing joy and pride to the Kurdish people.
The decision to hold the referendum marked a crucial stage in the struggle for Kurdish liberation. Its importance extended beyond the Kurdistan region, encompassing Kurdish areas outside its administration.
On 25/9/2017, the Kurdistan independence referendum was celebrated with public festivals and enthusiasm throughout the region, where 93% of voters supported independence.
This referendum was the culmination of a century of struggle against oppression and represented a unified stance among the Kurdish people, making it one of the happiest days for Kurds across all four parts of Kurdistan.
The people of Kurdistan possess their own land, language, culture, history, and identity, and have the right to determine their fate and the nature of their relationship with Iraq. We celebrate the Kurdistan Independence Referendum today. May the flag of Kurdistan always fly high and sacred. May Kurdistan live in safety and prosperity.
