Serhat Neriman, a young Yazidi director, has produced a new film titled “Untold Stories of the Shahmeran Legend” and talks about its story.
Serhat Neriman, the film’s director, told Sama: The film’s story is about a young man named Sherko, a Yazidi artist who wants to spread the legend of Shahmeran among people through his paintings and artwork. He takes a journey through the city hoping to spread this forgotten Kurdish legend throughout his birthplace. However, his artworks get stolen, making Sherko’s task to retrieve his work more difficult. He fights not just for his paintings but for a stolen culture, music, and heritage that others claim as their own work.
The film director also said: Within the city, Sherko uncovers more than just one theft and lifts the veil on Kurdish identity, proving that the true spirit of Kurdish culture can never be lost or stolen.
He also revealed that “Untold Stories” was written and directed by him, starring Heger Hadi as the main actor, with supporting actors including Dildar Naif, Veger Newzad, Geshvin Jalal, Sebah Amin, and Jovan Khodeda. The cinematography and editing were done by Serhat Neriman, with Sehand Abdal as producer. The behind-the-camera staff includes Hinwet Berjes, Bilend Newzad, and Geshvin Jalal.
According to the director, they will participate in film festivals in the near future.
