Duhok SC was crowned champions of the 32nd Iraq FA Cup after defeating Zakho in a penalty shootout during the final match held Friday evening at Al-Shaab Stadium in the capital, Baghdad.
The match ended in a goalless draw after regular time and extra time, leading to a penalty shootout that saw Duhok win 5–3.
Duhok and Zakho had advanced to the final after defeating Al-Shorta (last season’s champion) and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya (the runner-up), respectively.
This marks the first time either Duhok or Zakho has won the Iraq Cup. Al-Zawraa holds the record for the most titles, having won the cup 16 times.
