Sema

His Highness Prince Hazim Tahsin Saeed, (Prince of the Ezidis in Iraq and worldwide, and Head of the Ezidi Supreme Spiritual Council),

met with the British Minister Lord Collins (UK Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and Minister for Human Rights).

During the meeting, His Highness detailed the crimes committed against the Ezidis by ISIS in Sinjar on August 3, 2014 — the impact of which continues to this day:

  • Dozens of mass graves remain unopened.
  • Hundreds of kidnapped Ezidis are still missing.
  • A prolonged humanitarian catastrophe.
  • Thousands of Ezidis remain displaced in camps without safe return.
  • The worsening conditions of Ezidis in Iraq and Syria.

His Highness called for:

  1. Support for job creation projects for Ezidi youth and other minorities.
  2. An end to forced deportations of Ezidis from Europe and the UK.
  3. Increased efforts to rehabilitate survivors.
  4. International cooperation to establish a clear timeline for the return of displaced persons.

Lord Collins reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to:

  • Supporting the stability of Sinjar and financing reconstruction efforts.
  • Implementing a new strategy to protect freedom of religion and belief (especially in Iraq and Syria).
  • Standing by the Ezidi people.

In conclusion, Prince Hazim expressed his gratitude to the UK for:

  • Its historic recognition of the Ezidi genocide and its continued support over the past decade.
  • And invited the minister to visit the sacred Lalish temple.
