Regarding the ongoing disputes between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government of Iraq concerning the resolution of issues related to salaries, the budget, and Kurdistan Region’s financial entitlements, the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) held a meeting today to determine an appropriate position.
However, Dr. Fuad Hussein also returned to Kurdistan today following a series of discussions with various Iraqi political parties. He informed the KDP Political Bureau that the political figures, parties, and the Federal Government of Iraq have pledged to resolve this issue and address the matter of sending salaries and financial entitlements to the Kurdistan Region within the coming few days.
Based on their request and promises — and in order to continue dialogue in a calm atmosphere while taking into account the general situation and public interest — we have decided to give the Federal Government in Baghdad one final opportunity to find a solution that ensures a settlement of this issue. This decision stems from our strong belief in resolving disputes through mutual understanding, as long as dialogue remains a viable path.
