The MEPS Conference starts tomorrow in Duhok, where the American University will gather global experts to discuss Middle East security

The sixth edition of the Middle East Peace and Security Forum (MEPS), organized by the American University of Kurdistan–Duhok, will kick off tomorrow, Monday, with the participation of international experts as well as political and academic figures to discuss the major challenges facing the region in its new phase.

This year’s conference is held under the theme “Crisis Management in the New Middle East” and will last for three days.

High-level workshops and activities

According to the university, the first day will feature five specialized workshops discussing issues related to security, the economy, regional transformations, and crisis governance.

The second and third days will include high-level sessions held across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, with the participation of international speakers and experts.

Focus on strategic cooperation and development

Ari Zawitaei, Director of Media at the American University in Duhok, stated that this year’s MEPS conference aims to reduce the risks of regional crises and enhance strategic cooperation between regional and international actors, with a focus on supporting economic prosperity.

He added that the conference highlights the policies and measures that can unify efforts and push the region’s development process toward more stable and effective pathways.
