On the occasion of the Ezi Fasting Feast, which falls on Friday, 19 December 2025, His Holiness Baba Sheikh, Sheikh Ali Sheikh Elias, extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the followers of the Ezidi faith in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and around the world.
His Holiness expressed his hope that this feast will bring goodness, peace, and blessings to all, praying to the Almighty Creator to return it to the people with security, stability, and progress. He emphasized that the Ezi Fasting Feast should be an occasion for spiritual reflection and for renewing commitment to the authentic values and principles of the Ezidi religion, in a way that strengthens its ancient heritage and its path based on tolerance and love.
His Holiness highlighted the Ezidis’ adherence to the path of peace and tolerance, and their constant commitment to strengthening bonds of love and coexistence with all components of society. At the same time, he reaffirmed the demand for justice for the victims, survivors, and female survivors of the genocide committed against the Ezidi people in Shingal on 3 August 2014.
In this context, His Holiness called on the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Iraqi government, and the international community to intensify efforts to uncover the fate of the Ezidi abductees who remain in the hands of the terrorist organization داعش (ISIS), stressing that this humanitarian issue must remain at the top of priorities.
He also expressed his hope that this feast will be a beginning of goodness, blessing, and peace for all, and a gesture of love, brotherhood, and tolerance, and that it will witness the return of displaced Ezidis to Shingal and their original areas of residence with dignity and honor, supported seriously by the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi government.
