Statement Issued by the Ezidi Democratic Party
We have followed with surprise the statement issued by the Babylon Movement and its unjustified insertion of the name of the Ezidi component into political disputes that have no connection to its real issues. We would like to clarify the following to public opinion:
First: The Ezidi component is an authentic Iraqi component that possesses its own independent political will and does not accept guardianship, direction, or representation by proxy from any party whatsoever. We categorically reject any attempt, direct or indirect, to interfere in its internal affairs or to use its name in political conflicts that do not serve its cause or rights.
Second: The Ezidi Democratic Party is a legitimate political party that operates in accordance with the constitution and the law. It has participated in electoral processes since 2018 and derives its legitimacy from the sons and daughters of its people, not from the approval of this party or that. Accordingly, we firmly reject any questioning, evaluation, or guardianship issued by entities that have no relation to the Ezidi community.
Third: Defending the rights of the Ezidis has never been a field for political bargaining or exploitation; rather, it is a national and moral commitment that has been translated into action in both the political and national arenas, especially during the most difficult circumstances faced by this component. We will not allow any party to confiscate this role or grant itself the right to monopolize representation or distribute certificates of patriotism.
Fourth: We affirm our respect for all Iraqi components and our commitment to the principle of genuine partnership. While we do not interfere in the affairs of others, we will not stand idle in the face of any violation of our constitutional rights, political will, or national standing.
Fifth (Political and Constitutional Warning): We clearly and explicitly warn against the continued use of the name of the Ezidi component in statements, positions, or conflicts that do not represent it, or attempts to undermine its constitutional entitlements—foremost among them the right to genuine and fair representation. We affirm that we will resort to all legitimate constitutional, legal, and political means to defend the rights of our Ezidi people, including taking the necessary legal and parliamentary measures against any party or individual who violates or seeks to circumvent these rights.
Sixth: The governance of the state is not achieved through provocative statements or by confusing the facts, but through respect for the constitution, mutual recognition among components, and adherence to the ethics of responsible political action.
In conclusion, we affirm that the Ezidi component and its just cause are far greater than to be used in side battles, and that the dignity of this component and its right to determine its own affairs are a red line that we will not allow to be crossed under any pretext or title.
