The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, today extended his greetings to the people of Kurdistan and to the rest of the world on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, emphasizing that the region’s linguistic and cultural diversity is a source of pride.
In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, the Prime Minister said: “I congratulate the people of Kurdistan on International Mother Language Day. The Kurdistan Region is rich in the diversity of languages and cultures, and it is a matter of pride to see all components of Kurdistan speaking and learning their mother language freely and safely.”
He highlighted the fundamental importance of language, describing it as “a cornerstone of our existence and our national and ethnic identity.”
The Prime Minister also stressed the government’s commitment to supporting and protecting linguistic diversity, stating: “The Kurdistan Regional Government renews its commitment to promoting the Kurdish language, as well as the languages of all indigenous components of the Kurdish people, ensuring the continuation of this cultural richness.”
