Today, Wednesday, President Masrour Barzani emphasized that the March 11, 1970 Agreement was not merely a political document, but the great fruit of the struggle and sacrifices of the September Revolution, the Peshmerga, and all segments of the people of Kurdistan, stressing the importance of safeguarding the historic achievements attained.
In a message on the 56th anniversary of the agreement, President Barzani said: “The March 11 Agreement is the result of a steadfast and comprehensive struggle, led by the immortal Barzani, aimed at restoring the rights of the people of Kurdistan and achieving democracy in Iraq.”
Forcing recognition and official acknowledgment
He noted that the strength of the revolution and the determination of the people “ultimately forced the Iraqi government at the time to officially recognize, for the first time, part of the legitimate rights of our people,” considering it a major turning point in contemporary history.
Tribute to fighters and martyrs
President Barzani expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices of “the Peshmerga, revolutionaries, and patriots” who stood firm in the struggle to secure this historic achievement, emphasizing that these sacrifices laid the foundation for Kurdistan’s current status.
Message of peace and coexistence
He concluded his message by reaffirming national principles, stating: “On this anniversary, we renew our commitment to protecting achievements and upholding the message of peace and coexistence embraced by the people of Kurdistan,” paying tribute to the souls of the martyrs of the September Revolution and all those who gave their lives for freedom in Kurdistan.
