Statement by Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, on the 35th Anniversary of the Uprising
Today, Thursday, March 5, 2026, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, issued a statement commemorating the 35th anniversary of the popular uprising of the Kurdish people.
The text of the statement is as follows:
On the 35th anniversary of the glorious and victorious March 1991 Uprising of the people of Kurdistan, I extend my sincerest congratulations and warmest blessings to all the people of Kurdistan, foremost among them the brave Peshmerga and the families of the noble martyrs.
The March Uprising represents one of the brightest and greatest historical achievements ignited by the people of Kurdistan, bearing fruitful results through the unity and cooperation of its diverse components.
Thanks to this great uprising, and the heroic struggles, sacrifices, and efforts of our people, the Kurdistan Region today enjoys its existence and its official and legitimate institutions, which we are duty-bound to preserve and develop through all possible and effective means.
On this occasion, we reaffirm that the unity of the Kurdish people is our greatest asset and source of strength. Just as the March Uprising culminated in glorious victory and produced achievements that we proudly enjoy today through the solidarity and cohesion of our people, it is now more important than ever for our people to defend and safeguard our national and communal accomplishments to build a more prosperous and advanced future.

Peace be upon the pure souls of the martyrs of the uprising and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.
