Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani called on the federal government in Baghdad on Saturday to fulfill its legal and constitutional obligations by providing fair and appropriate compensation to the families of Feyli Kurdish martyrs and all victims of the former regime.
In a statement marking the 46th anniversary of the genocide campaigns against the Feyli Kurds—which included killings, forced displacement, and disappearances, as well as the confiscation of assets and property belonging to hundreds of thousands under previous regimes, particularly the Baath regime—Barzani stressed that the federal government must take responsibility for compensating the families of martyrs and those affected. This includes victims of chemical attacks, the Anfal campaign, and all others harmed by the former Iraqi regime.
In conclusion, the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister expressed his sincere condolences on this painful occasion, paying tribute to the souls of the Feyli Kurdish martyrs and all martyrs of Kurdistan.
