Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs announced on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, that late on the night of April 6, outlawed terrorist groups carried out an attack targeting a Peshmerga base within the Raparin administration.
The ministry stated that the attack on the base was conducted using two explosive-laden drones. It added that on the same night, a separate attack targeted the home of Peshmerga member Musa Anwar within the borders of Erbil, using three explosive drones.
According to the statement, the drones that struck the Peshmerga member’s home were launched from Iranian territory, resulting in the death of him and his wife.
The ministry condemned the attacks, describing them as a dangerous continuation of a series of systematic sabotage operations targeting Peshmerga positions and populated areas across the Kurdistan Region.
It further stated that, while extending sincere condolences and deep sympathies to the families of the victims, the blood of the martyrs would not be in vain, holding the Islamic Republic of Iran and outlawed armed groups in Iraq fully and directly responsible for the attacks.
The statement concluded by calling on the Iraqi Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to fulfill his constitutional, security, and legal responsibilities, stressing the need to take urgent measures to put a definitive end to these repeated attacks and violations.
