Under the supervision of Governor Dr. Ali Tatar, and in the presence of the Prime Minister’s Advisor Mr. Saeed Al-Jiyashi and the Executive Director at the Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Region Mr. Riyadh Faryad, the committee responsible for preparing the “Iraqi Dictionary of Geographical Names” held an expanded meeting at the governorate headquarters, with the participation of relevant الجهات from both the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for implementing this national project, which aims to document historical and geographical sites in accordance with international standards. For his part, the governor emphasized the historical significance of Duhok and issued a decision to form a specialized technical committee tasked with mapping and cataloging cultural sites across all administrative units of the governorate.
Relevant departments and district administrations were also directed to provide the necessary facilitation to ensure accurate and scientific data recording, contributing to the Iraqi dictionary as a well-documented geographical and historical reference.
