Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Farhad Amin Atrushi, on Saturday commemorated the heinous crime and genocide committed by ISIS against the people of the Ezidi village of Kocho in Sinjar on August 15, 2014. Hundreds of men and boys were executed in brutal ways, while women and children were abducted.

On this painful anniversary, Atrushi called for the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, the reconstruction of the area, and ensuring the return of displaced people to their homes.

He also stressed the need to ensure justice for survivors, complete efforts to determine the fate of the abductees, and hold the perpetrators accountable under the law to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies and crimes against humanity.

May the souls of the Kocho martyrs, the victims of genocide, and all the martyrs of Iraq rest in peace.
