During the farewell meeting, held as Botum concluded his tenure in the Kurdistan Region, he congratulated President Barzani on receiving the prestigious Papal Medal awarded to him by His Holiness the Pope. Botum praised President Barzani’s historic role in protecting the rights of religious and ethnic communities and promoting a culture of coexistence and harmony among the diverse communities of Kurdistan and Iraq.
President Barzani expressed his gratitude to His Holiness the Pope, stressing that the people of the region take pride in their rich culture of coexistence and solidarity among different religions and ethnic groups. He affirmed that this culture would remain protected and that efforts would continue to deepen and strengthen it.
President Barzani also praised the EU Relations Office chief for his efforts and contributions during his tenure in the Kurdistan Region, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
The meeting also addressed the risks and opportunities facing Iraq and the region in the coming period, as well as the political process in the Kurdistan Region.
