Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sheikhan-Lalish highway in Duhok province, marking a significant step towards improving transportation infrastructure and safety in the region.
The new highway is expected to ease travel for residents of Duhok province and significantly reduce traffic accidents, demonstrating the government’s commitment to providing essential services to all areas of Kurdistan.
Roads, as the Prime Minister Barzani has always stressed, are crucial pillars of development.
Under the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Duhok province has witnessed the approval and implementation of 1,314 projects, valued at over three trillion and 107 billion dinars. Many of these projects have already been completed, with others currently underway.
Of the total projects, 1,249 have been executed by the public sector, with the ninth cabinet investing more than two trillion and 18 billion dinars. The remaining 65 projects, worth over one trillion and 89 billion dinars, have been implemented by the private sector, showcasing a collaborative approach to development.
The Sheikhan-Lalish highway serves as a testament to the KRG’s dedication to progress and the well-being of its citizens.
