Sema

A new initiative aimed at improving Lalish Temple has been presented to both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi Government. Engineer Khairy Gadi, who oversees the renovation efforts, emphasized the significance of the temple as a gathering place for the Yazidi community. “During festivals and events, we see an influx of visitors, which can lead to significant crowding. To enhance the experience for everyone, we’ve proposed several essential service projects, including improvements to water supply, electricity, and infrastructure,” he explained.

Khairy also highlighted that 21 other shrines within the Lalish complex are in need of renovation, underscoring the ongoing dedication to preserving this sacred site. He expressed hope that these proposals will be realized in the near future, allowing Lalish to continue serving as a vibrant hub for Yazidi culture and spirituality.

Lalish is not just a temple; it is the holiest site for Yazidis worldwide, where cherished religious festivals and events take place. It stands as a testament to the resilience and rich heritage of the Yazidi people, making these proposed improvements all the more vital for their community.
