This decision grants permanent status to contract employees who meet the necessary conditions, requirements, and legal criteria set forth by the Iraqi government.
In a significant move to improve job security for public sector workers, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has approved the permanentization of all contract employees across the Kurdistan Region, following decisions made by the Council of Ministers during Meeting No. 140 on Sept. 25.
This decision grants permanent status to contract employees who meet the necessary conditions, requirements, and legal criteria set forth by the Iraqi government. It is aimed at enhancing employment stability and ensuring that eligible workers in the region receive the same rights and benefits as permanent employees.
According to the decision, the financial allocation for these newly permanent employees will remain consistent with the current budget approved by the Iraqi Ministry of Finance. Salaries for contract employees who have registered through the biometric system will be drawn from the appointment budget, without imposing any additional financial burden on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
The Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Region has been tasked with overseeing the process, ensuring that all criteria set by the federal government are met. The ministry will prepare the salary list for permanent employees and coordinate with the federal Ministry of Finance for the disbursement of funds.
This decision marks a crucial step toward improving the financial security of contract employees, bringing their employment conditions in line with those of permanent staff across the region.
