The Director of Migration, Displacement, and Crisis Response in Dohuk Governorate stated that U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to cut financial support for all American organizations will have a significant impact on the lives of Yazidi displaced persons.
Bair Dayan Jafar, the Director of Migration and Displacement in Dohuk, told Sama Channel: “The president’s decision to stop financial aid from American organizations will greatly affect the Yazidi displaced persons living in the camps.”
He also pointed out that most people from Sinjar are still displaced and unable to return to their original homes and regions.
Jafar added: “This decision should be reconsidered to ensure that aid continues to reach these suffering displaced individuals.”
In Dohuk Governorate and the independent administration of Zakho, there are 16 displacement camps, most of which are populated by displaced people from Sinjar, many of whom have been living in tents for over 10 years.
