The Sinjar Cultural Forum organized a cultural festival titled “Sinjar Folklore and Cultural Festival” on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the House of Coexistence, marking the first cultural and folkloric festival in the northern district (Sinuni). The event featured a group of poets from Sinjar and Shingal, as well as individuals interested in Yazidi affairs in the region.
Aldeen Qolo, the head of the Relations Department at the Sinjar Forum, told Sama Media Foundation: “The festival included poetry readings, a folkloric musical performance, and a book exhibition showcasing the forum’s publications. More than 10 poets from Sinjar and Shingal participated in the festival.”
He added, “The goal of the festival is to support young writers and poets in both Kurdish and Arabic, place more emphasis on Yazidi folklore and introduce it to the world, as well as to activate the cultural movement in Sinjar.”
It is worth mentioning that the Sinjar Cultural and Social Forum was established in 2019 and is part of the Union of Writers and Authors in Nineveh.
