Families of Yazidi victims: The Iraqi government has neglected our causes

Sema

The families of the Yazidi victims have submitted eleven requests to the Iraqi government through Member of Parliament, Mahma Khalil Ali Agha, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, to bring their demands to the attention of the relevant authorities in the federal government.

According to the victims’ families’ demands, which include eleven requests, the Iraqi government is not giving their issues the attention they deserve, with a clear neglect of their cases. The statement emphasized that it has been ten years since the genocide, and many issues remain unresolved, including the mass graves, the kidnapped individuals, and their legitimate rights, all while being ignored by the concerned authorities.

In response, Member of Parliament Mahma Khalil Ali Agha welcomed the delegation of the victims’ families and clarified that he would convey their voices and demands to the concerned authorities. He pledged to work on addressing their issues with full dedication and not abandon this file, collaborating with the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s block to seek a quick resolution to their demands.

Haji Hamid Talou, one of the families of the 77 victims, said, “The families of the victims have suffered greatly since the genocide, while the Iraqi government has neglected their demands, which focus on searching for the kidnapped, opening the mass graves, and fairly compensating the affected individuals.”

He also stressed, “The families of the victims are in urgent need of assistance, and we call on the relevant authorities to act swiftly to end their ongoing suffering.”
