A member of the Iraqi Parliament has called for careful consideration in the process of establishing new provinces, emphasizing that “Sinjar deserves more justice.”
Dr. Vian Dakhil stated that the idea of creating new provinces is not new and has previously been submitted to both Parliament and the Council of Ministers. However, she stressed that Sinjar must not be overlooked within this broader framework.
“Sinjar has paid a heavy price—through genocide and repeated disasters. It is home to unique social, cultural, and religious components, and therefore deserves to become an independent province,” she said.
Dr. Dakhil emphasized that recognizing Sinjar as its own province would be a step toward justice and a crucial move for ensuring a more stable and secure future for its people.
