The Taws Gêran Procession
The sacred journey of the Taws Gêran is among the most revered spiritual traditions in the Ezidi faith. This holy procession begins in the village of Bashiqa, marking the start of a blessed 40-day pilgrimage. It passes through the sacred villages of Welat Sheikh in Sheikhan, and continues to the Ezidi communities in Shariya and Khanke.
Throughout this divine journey, the Taws Gêran is accompanied by the Qewwals—the bearers of holy hymns—and a devoted group of Ezidi religious figures.
Their presence brings blessings to homes and hearts, renewing spiritual connections and preserving the sacred customs passed down through generations.
The journey concludes with the return of the Taws Gêran to its resting place in Baadre, where prayers and gratitude mark the end of this holy passage.
