His Holiness Baba Sheikh, Sheikh Ali Sheikh Elias, led the religious ceremonies of the Summer Forty-Day Fast Festival on Wednesday at the sacred Lalish Temple, accompanied by his religious entourage. The rituals took place in a deeply spiritual atmosphere, with the presence of many Ezidi clerics, community leaders, and figures from various regions.
This occasion marks the end of the Forty-Day Fast, observed exclusively by Ezidi clergy known as Çileger. It is one of the most important religious events in the Ezidi calendar.
The period concludes with special rituals at Lalish, including lighting of ceremonial lamps, recitation of prayers, and religious hymns by the Qewwals, reflecting strong devotion and spiritual heritage.
The ceremonies will continue for three days, during which Ezidis from different areas are expected to visit the temple—honoring a sacred annual tradition that reflects deep commitment to Ezidi faith and heritage.
