Mahama Khalil Member of Parliament: We demand the allocation of 100 billion dinars in compensation for the Sinjar district

A member of the Iraqi Parliament from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has stated that the Iraqi government has failed in its duty regarding the greatest genocide committed against the people of Sinjar.

Mahama Khalil, a member of Parliament from the KDP faction, said in a press conference:
“Eleven years have passed since the genocide committed by ISIS against the Ezidis, yet Sinjar remains in ruins. People have not been able to return, and essential services are still lacking. Most Ezidis continue to live in camps.”

He noted that signatures will be collected from members of Parliament to demand the allocation of 100 billion dinars for the reconstruction of Sinjar, as the region is still devastated and rebuilding efforts have not met the necessary standards.

He added:
“Due to the lack of services, the return of displaced people from camps to Sinjar has significantly decreased.”

In August 2014, the terrorist organization ISIS committed genocide against the Ezidi community in Sinjar and surrounding areas. The group carried out mass killings, forced displacement, enslavement, and other crimes against humanity. Since then, Ezidis have continued to seek justice and accountability for the atrocities committed against them.
