The custodian of the Sharfadin Shrine in Shingal has announced that on Thursday and Friday, September 4th and 5th, the Jamaiya Sharfadin ceremonies will be held. This is the largest religious celebration in Shingal.
It is worth noting that this feast used to be held in the month of August each year, before its date was moved to September. During the celebration, religious rituals are performed with the participation of Yazidis from various regions.
Despite the difficult circumstances the Yazidis have faced, the Jamaiya has never been interrupted. In fact, Yazidi resistance fighters ensured that the ceremonies continued at the shrine even during the darkest days of 2014.
